‘Retail Refurbishment’ Project Case Study
Description of Works
Internally OBP stripped back the previous tenants fit out back to brick, sympathetic of original features and construction methods. Care had to be taken not to disturb any original lath and plaster. Lath and plaster is a technique that was used to finish interior walls and ceilings from the early-18th until the early-to-mid-20th century.
OBP then provided subtle upgrades the building services ready for the new tenant to move in including their electrics, water and heating requirements.
Externally, we were tasked with refurbishing a number of pitched roof areas along with adjoining flat roof areas and gutters. To complete this work we brought in our experienced roof specialists who are phenomenal in all aspects of roofing and joinery. To wrap up the roofing aspect of the project we brought in our very own lead specialist who was able to recreate some of the original lead work that had been in situ for hundreds of years.
To the façade we carefully surveyed any aged, rotten or damaged aspects that we wanted to replace. In this case templates were taken, designs drawn up and approved via the local conservation team. This included the correct selection of hard wood that would have been used originally. Our team then carefully installed the new sections before the façade was decorated.
