‘Eastgate, Chester’ Project Case Study

Eastgate, Chester

Eastgate and Eastgate Clock in Chester, stand on the site of the original entrance to the Roman fortress of Deva Victrix. In the heart of the city of Chester and is said to be the most photographed clock in England after Big Ben.

Eastgate street is home to well known high end fashion labels, prestigious hotels and a collection of commercial retail units that our client operates with pride.

This time round it was the former TSB unit that was due to be stripped back to shell and core before completing a CAT A fit out ready for a new tenant to move into.

OBP Projects works package included decommission and strip of all existing mechanical and electrical installations. The ground floor area was taken back to shell and core whilst the first and second floors received a CAT A fit out including new electrical installation with LED lighting complimenting a newly installed ceiling grid. We then upgraded the small power provision to suit the new layout. Each floor was redecorated with new carpet tiles installed to a high specification.

We weren’t done there, phase two of this project involved an outbuilding that had not been occupied for circa 20years. It was found to be in a dilapidated state as the roof to the rear of the building had collapsed and so OBP Projects with the help of our preferred structural engineer set about firstly making the building safe before we took on the task of ensuring that the building was left wind and watertight.

Together with key stakeholders including the clients employed building surveyor, building control, a structural engineer and the Cheshire East conservation officer, our OBP Projects team worked their magic to refurbish the out-building with an outcome that has received impressive feedback from all involved. The team certainly enjoyed this one!
